Yesterday, I shared with you a set of medication errors that I observed at a prestigious medical center in New England.
According to the Institute of Medicine, medication errors affect more than 1.5 million Americans each year.
I would like to hear from you about your experience with medication errors, if any.

Last week I had the left side of my thyroid removed at outpatient surgery ai area hospital. When I was taken from recover to a room I bedan to vomit, medication was put thru IV. Then I was given medicaton in a pill to swallow for pain, sent home with same perescription. I am alergic to tylanol. I was given Vicodin (I now know contains a lot of tylanol) after 28 miserable hours,i had a follow up visit. Prescription change, but by then I was too afraid to take anything. I’ve had a miserable week..
Karen:
Thanks for sharing and I’m sorry you had such a difficult time following your surgery. Your story is another example of the all too frequent number of medication errors. I hope that you are feeling better now.
